Practice Makes Perfect
Though far from perfect, I sure did practice a lot. Here I link together all the practice VJ'ing I did while developing my custom Resolume controller/sequencer.

Efdemin - Good Winds
When some of the tracks from Efdemin's album 'New Atlantis' found their way into my playlist, I was sold immediately. Even though I knew Efdemin, the 2019 release of this album had completely passed me by. A loss for 2019 me, but what a blast for 2024 me. And even present me still.
Especially the track Good Winds really inspired me. Though I'd really recommend sitting through the first 3 tracks in a row. And maybe while you're at it, just sit it out. The closing track is defintily worth it.
But Good Winds was the track that got the D&LY ball rolling again. It also turned out to be the perfect track to play around with and further develop my custom Resolume controller/sequencer. More on that very one soon.
For now here's the output of these tryout sessions. The first four were recorded using OBS and then uploaded to youtube. They are linked here in chronological order.
Enter TouchDesigner
I use Resolume as my main VJ software and for as long as I can remember I have been looking for a way to expand on the VFX set. As this is a pretty closed software package, my options were limited and underwhelming.
But then it dawned on me...
TouchDesigner!
I finally had a good reason to install and also effectively use TouchDesigner. So I got to it and in a day I had something working. I was able to send my Resolume output into TouchDesigner, and together with my intern Claude, I cobbled together a couple of post processing shaders... A whole new world of possibilities opening up! Very exciting stuff.
Even with all those options, I still had to go for those good old VHS & CRT vibes first. What can I say. I'm an 80's kid...
Below you find sessions that I streamed directly live from OBS in an attempt to improve the upload quality, so there's quite a bunch of 'dead time'.
Here's a timestamped link to the 'final version'. Enjoy!
