Or if you're into that kind of stuff you find all the code on a branch of the 'bc-create-qr' branch on the project's github page. Vercel puts all preview builds for branches behind auth by default. So that's how I implemented 'free auth' on this one. The server routes integrate with my Directus CMS, but should be easy enough to swap out with whatever implementation you need.
