2024–2025

Genuary

Genuary is the Generative Art month of the year where Piter Pasma collects 31 prompts for 31 days that are meant to inspire 31 programs / algorithms / machines / automatons. Since 2024 I've been joining in on the fun.

Towards the end of 2023 I had just about released the first version of my personal/company website. Say, the predecessor to this place now. I had also set up a new social media account to go with it. Now I needed stuff to put there. But what?

That's when Genuary caught my attention. It seemed like a perfect fit at the right moment. I would force myself to make things and share the world. So in December of 2023 the decision was made that I'd be doing Genuary 2024.

I set out to do all 31 prompts, though I only ended up doing 10 and of that there's about half that I actually like the output of. But that's all ok. In Genuary, the only person with expectations of how you should perform is yourself. As it goes.

When Genuary 2025 came around, I was definitely joining, but this time around I had made a selection of about 7 or 8 prompts that really spoke to me and ended up doing something for 4 of them. I didn't do as many, but I feel like I really had the time to explore each of the prompts a lot more in depth.

Maybe one day, I'll be doing all 31.

Until then you can check out all my entries for Genuary 24 and Genuary 25 on their respective websites. Most prompts also come with a little backstory behind the inspiration.

As it turns out, Genuary has been quite significant for my personal artistic exploration. The Vera Molnar prompt from 2024 turned into RSTR (which I plan to iterate on further very soon), while the Grid Based Design prompt from 2025 turned into my new landingpage...

Needless to say I've got Genuary 2026 penciled in my calendar?
